Region Moravskoslezský kraj of the regional capital of Ostrava is situated in the north of Moravia and neighboring regions: Zlínský kraj and Olomoucký kraj. Border is also in the north with Poland and Slovakia to the east. The highest mountains are Jeseníky Mountains, which extend also to the region Olomoucký kraj. Favorite places in Jeseníky are Praděd, Karlov pod Pradědem or Karlova Studánka. Another protected area is Beskydy with the highest mountain  Lysá hora 1323 m. Accommodation in the region Moravskoslezský kraj, except Beskydy or Jeseníky, can also be pleasant in the PLA Poodří situated between Ostrava and Nový Jičín on the River Odra. Odra rises in a natural park Oderské hills, where you will find beautiful countryside with lots of cycling and in winter the ski resorts.
